Without more awareness, life looks like this for more Kiwis over 50.
THIS JUST IN! Survey reveals awareness of Macular Degeneration is falling in NZ.
Can you help with an urgent gift to spread more awareness and stop older people going blind?
Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in NZ. 1 in 7 over 50 years will get it. Many don't know about it until it's too late and they've lost their eyesight. Awareness and early detection are your best chance to avoid going blind.
Since 2020, awareness of Macular Degeneration has been falling among Kiwis over 50, the people most at risk.
In Australia, the amount of people over 50 who have heard of Macular Degeneration is on the rise.
Too many Kiwis are going blind who don’t need to.
Your gift today will help older Kiwis avoid blindness and save their eyesight.
Your donation will help:
Raise awareness of Macular Degeneration through public seminars and presentations to retirement villages.
Give people tools and vital information to care for their eye health including Amsler Grids for self-testing at home.
Provide support to people living with Macular Degeneration through our 0800 Save Sight Helpline.
MDNZ receives zero government funding, but your support can make a life-changing difference for older Kiwis at risk of blindness.
"Thank you for your help. I stay positive for the more help to come."
